Bra Sizing
Our sizing charts for international sizes. To find the best fitting bra first measure under your bust as shown in the picture, to get the right band The traditional method of measuring for a bra included measuring under the bust to find your band size. Then a measurement was taken around the bust. When the band size was subtracted from this value it equated to a cup size. The problem with this is that the measurement you get around your bust is affected by how well the bra you are wearing fits!
Step 1: Measuring
These days we start with the band size and your best guess at a cup size. After all the important thing is comfort and shape. So you should always try a new bra on, even if you know your size, there are variations with different styles and our busts change in size and shape with age and weight gain/loss. The band size measurement should be taken under your bust. Make sure you have the tape measure fairly tight as your bra will ride up if the size is too big. It is especially important for big bras, as the weight of your bust will pull the bra down at the front if too loose.
Step 2: The Band
The best way to put a bra on is to slip on the shoulder straps and then lean forward scooping your breast into the bra using the cups. Then you should straighten up making any necessary adjustments. When you try on a new bra the band should be a snug fit when it is secured on the loosest hooks. The bra will give with wear and then you can use a tighter setting. If the bra is too loose on these hooks then try the next band size down. If it feels very tight try the next one up.
Step 3. The Cup
Next the cup. The middle of the bra should fit against the breast bone, if not you may need to try a larger cup. Next check how well your bust fits into the cup. There should be no loose material, but if you find that it is too tight giving you the appearance of 4 boobs, then you need a bigger cup. Also make sure that you fit well into the sides. If underwired, make sure that the wire completely surrounds the breast and does not rest on or stick into it. if you find that the sides of the cups are rubbing on your underarms you will need a smaller cup.
Step 4: We're Almost There - The Look and Feel!
So now all the technicalities are out of the way how does it feel? Stretch your arms above your head, bend from side to side. is everything still in place? Does it feel comfortable? Now the mirror test. Try on one of your favorite tops, if it's close fitting even better. How does it look? It is important to check that your bra also gives you the best possible shape. All done, you should now have the perfect fit!!
Bra sizing grid
If you have followed the bra fitting tips and the bra you have tried does not fit. Then the grid below will help you select the correct bra size. The example shows what might happen if you have tried on a size 34F. If you find the cup fitted correctly but that the band size was too large or too small then you should follow the white arrows to find the correct size. If the band was too large then you should try a 32FF but if it was too small then a 36E. This is because cup size is relative to the band size. If you found that the band fitted correctly but that the cup was too small or too large then you should follow the pink arrows to find the correct size. So if the 34F was too small then you should try a 34FF and if it was too large then you should try a 34E.
